See Cape Breton from the water! Join Captain Greg for a unique day adventure sailing on Cape Breton’s magical inland sea, the Bras d’Or Lake. We offer a variety of ways for you to get out on the water and up-close to the natural wonders at sea and along the shore.
Daysailing charters begin at our private dock, adjacent the St. Peter’s Canal National Historic Site. Here, North America’s oldest operating tidal lock connects the Atlantic Ocean with the Bras d’Or Lake. Learn about the 10,000 year history of this important transportation hub that served the Mi’kmaq and their ancestors as a portage and meeting place. Sail the local waters like our earliest explorers and settlers. Brush up on your old sailing skills, or take a beginner’s lesson during your daysailing charter. Misty Cat, a Nonsuch-class cruising yacht, is a safe, comfortable and easy-to-handle boat that beginners and seasoned pros will enjoy commanding. Anchor in a quiet cove for lunch and a swim. Then, back to the lake for some more practice with your new sailing skills.
This is the ‘original green maritime adventure experience’: lots of fresh air, close encounters with marine and bird life, pristine salt water and shorelines; hear stories and music from our local cultures. Half-day (3 hours) and full-day (6 hours) group or private charters are tailored to suit your interests. Offered daily from June 15 through October 15, by advance booking.
Private Sailing Charters:
With captain, for your group of up to 6 people. Catering available. Customized departure times for half and full day and multi-day charters.
Group Sailing Charters:
With a minimum booking for 2, you can join a party of up to 6 for scheduled half and full day charters with captain.
Sunset Picnic and Ceilidh Charters:
Set sail at a special time of day, with a gourmet picnic – and optionally with live music – for a gentle 3 hour evening cruise on St. Peter’s Inlet.
