They have a brand new custom built 45’ Hustler; a down-east style fishing boat with a powerful 625 hp Volvo engine to help get them on the fish fast. They use custom built rods with professionally blueprinted Penn reels and only high quality tackle. Their techniques and methods are meant to put you on fish and help secure your victory.

Giant Bluefin Tuna Charters is the recipient of the 2015 Destination Eastern and Northumberland Shores “Rising Star” award and Capt. John is now a confirmed International Game Fish Association record-holding captain, having smashed the Junior Female Bluefin record with his 12 year old daughter Jenna Gavin when they landed a 618lb bluefin on Oct. 7th, 2014.

Capt. John and his wife Chandra offer day trips to the local fishing grounds to catch and release these magnificent giants which often weigh in over 1000 lbs. John and Chandra’s love for Nova Scotia and their passion for fishing make them the ideal choice for an unforgettable sport fishing experience. Giant Bluefin Tuna Charters is located in the heart of bluefin tuna country, at beautiful Ballantyne's Cove, a small fishing village on the shores of St. George's Bay, home of the world's largest bluefin tuna. Ballantyne's Cove is a thirty minute drive (just 31 km) from the town of Antigonish, in northern Nova Scotia, Canada

Bluefin Tuna Fishing Charters:

Giant Bluefin Tuna Charters offers a world class all-inclusive sport fishing experience aboard a Transport Canada approved vessel. We offer private charters at a rate of $2000+15% tax for a full day of fishing (8 hrs fishing time). This rate covers all fuel, bait, gear, tackle and food and beverages while aboard for up to six people.
