Selkirk Scottish Heritage Centre

Set back from the road, the Croft House is an information museum of the Scottish heritage of the greater Belfast area. Our Scottish roots go back to the 800 Scottish settlers, led by Lord Selkirk, who arrived here in 1803. An interpretive guide can assist with the genealogical records, atlases, memorabilia and artifacts. The relocated Belle River Church of Scotland (1873) and the restored ancient Acadian cemetery (1750-1758) are located here. There are cairns erected in remembrance of those early Scots and Acadians, Lord Selkirk, J. Angus MacLean and to the families of the Ross and Nicholson clans. Our wee Scottish gift shop carries clan and tartan items, Scot’s dictionaries and maps, and a variety of books - from local histories published by the Belfast Historical Society to the Campey books on Selkirk. Come explore our history and join our Society!
