Shelburne County Museum

The Shelburne County Museum, located in the town of Shelburne along the beautiful South Shore, houses an impressive collection of artifacts spanning more than two centuries of settlement in Shelburne County. Displays of Mi’kmaq, Loyalist, African, and Welsh heritage are included. Memorabilia relating to Shelburne’s rich shipbuilding history provide reminders of this glorious past. The Museum also features a Newsham Fire Pumper dating back to 1740, which is believed to be the oldest in Canada. The Museum’s resource centre includes microfilms of 18th and 20th-century Shelburne newspapers, private papers, Court of Session records and files containing information on the genealogy of Shelburne County families.
