Sherbrooke Village

In the 1860s, timber tall ships and gold ruled life along the St. Mary’s River, turning the community of Sherbrooke into a prosperous boom town. Today, the picturesque village still stands proud, just as it did more than 100 years ago. At Sherbrooke Village, every day is a trip back in time as Nova Scotia’s 19th century heritage is brought to life by costumed interpreters, including blacksmiths, potters, weavers and printers. Whether you’re curious to try your hand at quilting or would like your picture taken at Canada’s only Ambrotype glass photo studio, our activities, learning camps for children and adults, and schedule of special events make it easy to get your hands on history all summer long! Join us on Facebook for regular updates. Hitch a ride in the horse drawn wagon as it creaks along the gravel road to tour the village. We are open from the beginning of June to late September. Admission is charged. There is plenty of free parking on-site. Bus tours are welcome. Site is partially wheelchair accessible.  Picnic area is available. Visit the village’s gift shop for a wide selection of souvenirs and unique village crafted pottery, ironworks, weaving and wooden furniture or enjoy a delicious meal at the site’s restaurant.
